Clubs and Regular Programs
Forever Young Book Club (1st Tuesdays at 5:00 on Zoom)
Forever Young is an 18+ book group for adults who read teen fiction. The group meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. FY alternates reading a single book as a group and having more open discussions of many books around a particular theme. Contact the library for the Zoom code. Newcomers are always welcome!
Swords & Starships Book Club (2nd Wednesdays at 5:00 on Facebook Live, soon to be a Podcast!)
Join the Coos Bay Public Library’s genre book club, Swords & Starships, with other fans of Science Fiction and Fantasy to partake in rousing conversation with some good company. See what we're reading on the library's calendar or on our Facebook Events page.
Unlimited Book Club (2nd Thursdays at 6:00 on Zoom)
The Unlimited Book Club is a joint venture of Coos History Museum, Coos Bay Public Library, and North Bend Public Library, formed to encourage awareness and foster community discussions on equity, diversity, and inclusion through reading and thoughtful conversation.
The Relationship (First Thursdays at 3:30 on Zoom)
Coos Bay Public Library, in partnership with Youth Era’s Program Manager, Gabi Colton, and Coos Health & Wellness’ Public Health Educator, Jenna Kacheroski, will co-host The Relationship on every first Thursday of the month. This virtual event for youth ages 14-25 will be held on Zoom! Lets share and learn together to build skills for healthy relationships in our lives!
Spanglish Virtual Conversation Program
This program is for those who wish to practice their Spanish conversational skills and help other learners in a friendly setting. Attendees will have the opportunity to converse in Spanish as a group for one hour in a casual, informal environment. This is NOT a class but we will provide ideas for conversational topics. Beginners are welcome. ¡Vamos a hablar! Program is FREE and open to everyone.
Community Cooking With The Co-Op: Starring Jamar (Last Thursdays at 5:30 on Zoom)
Coos Bay Library has teamed up with Coos Head Food Co-op's Outreach Coordinator, Jamar, to provide safe, easy, and healthy recipes to create at home. Join us virtually on Zoom for this fun community event!
Craft Takeout
Calling all crafty teens and adults! Have an appetite to get creative? Pick up a free monthly Craft Takeout kit in the library's lobby, then join us on Facebook Live to craft along with the librarians. Can't make it to the Facebook Live event? Don't worry! The Facebook stream will be available to view afterwards. How-to instructions and everything needed to create the monthly project will be included in each Craft Takeout kit.
Cancelled Until Further Notice
Film Noir (Cancelled Until Further Notice)
Revisit the mean streets of the '40s and '50s! Join us for a Sunday afternoon screening of films featuring hard-bolied detectives, cynical crooks, femme fatales and gritty urban settings.
Armchair Adventures (Virtual - Second Tuesdays at 2 p.m.)
Want to tour a Canadian farm, or check out a British museum? Join us to explore different parts of the world by the clicking on the link we provide every month on our website and Facebook page.
Foreign Film Friday (Cancelled Until Further Notice)
Join friends and neighbors for sub-titled foreign films on the second Friday of each month. Some of these films have not been rated and are suitable for a mature audience.
Tabletop Board Game Night (Cancelled Until Further Notice)
Join fellow gamers for a night of board game fun. Bring your favorite or use one of the library's games. This program is for ages 15 and up.
