Read Beyond the Beaten Path this summer with the Coos Bay Public Library! All Ages Summer Reading Challenge
Get ready to go to camp this summer with the Coos Bay Public Library's Summer Reading Challenge. Anyone's eligible to take part in the fun! This year's challenge is focused not only on reading (of course) but on getting outside and reading beyond the beaten path. Read, explore, earn badges, and enter to win a cool grand prize!
How It Works:
1. Sign up online or in-person at the Coos Bay Public Library. Get a free prize just for signing up.
2. Take a look at the badges and activities. Select one (or more) that you'd like to start working on.
3. Complete five activities within a badge and earn a virtual button. Want a physical button? Stop by the library!
Each badge you earn entitles you to an entry into the grand prize.
Grand Prize Drawing:
The library will have a grand prize drawing for kids, teens and adults. One lucky winner from each age group will get to choose between the following prizes.
- a Lego set
- gift certificate to a local Coos Bay restaurant of your choice
- An America the Beautiful All Access National Park Pass and an Oregon Pacific Coast Passport
You will also earn a prize if you-
- Complete 3 badges
- Complete 8 badges
Any prizes earned or won need to picked up at the Coos Bay Public Library.
Registration for the program starts on June 20.

How to Sign Up Online
This year you can either sign up at the library and use a paper badge tracker OR register online.
To register online:

- Click on the yellow button in the middle of the page that says "Register an Individual or Family."
- Follow the step-by-step instructions to register yourself and/or any additional family members who would like to participate.
- Register for challenges, log activities completed, win prizes, and have fun!
