Coos Bay Library has teamed up with Coos Head Food Co-op's Outreach Coordinator, Jamar, to  provide safe, easy, and healthy recipes to create at home. Join us virtually on Zoom for this fun community event!

Coos Head Juneteenth Special Edition ingredients:


Coos Head Two Beans

1 Jacks Quality of Pinto Beans

1 Jacks Quality of Cannellini Beans  

1 Onion

Garlic (4 - 5 cloves)

1 Tablespoon of Dried Parsley  

½ Tablespoon of Cumin

2 Tablespoons of Flour (bulk offers the best bang for your bucks)

3 Cups of Water


Coos Head Cornbread Cakes

1 package Bob’s Red Mill: Stone Ground Cornbread Muffin Mix

1 Bell Pepper

1/2 Tablespoon of Dried Parsley 

1 Teaspoon of Garlic Granules

1 Egg


Basmati Rice Side Dish 2:1 Water Ratio

2 cups of Basmati Rice (Bulk Rice is the best)

Black Pepper


Olive Oil


You will need:

1 Frying Pans

1 Pot for Beans

1 Pot and Lid for Basmati Rice

1 Spatula

Paper towel so that grease can drain from the Cakes
